A minister misspoke.
She said that if a woman doesn’t have a baby, she is not called a female.
That means Japan is aging and has few children, so she wants women to have babies.
Of course, there was loud booing, and she was forced to retract her statement.
Japan is a country where we cannot say that a woman must have a child.
This is because there are women who can’t have a baby even if they wish to.
It would also deny the freedom of choosing not to have a baby.
So, the government increased child-care allowances as a countermeasure to the falling birthrate and provided birth-related cash incentives.
But the result has not improved.
While this was happening, the minister made her statement.
What she really meant was, “Please have a child if you can.
” Would this way of speaking be acceptable in your country?
ある大臣が失言した。
子供を産まなくて、女性といえるかと言った。
日本は少子高齢化なので子供を産んで欲しいという趣旨である。
当然、大ブーイングが起きて発言を撤回した。
日本は女性に子供を産めとは言ってはならない国なのだ。
これは、望んでも産むことができない女性がいるため、
また、産まないという自由意思を否定することになるからだ。
だから少子化対策として児童手当を増やしたり出産一時金を出した。
しかし、その効果もほとんど見られない。
そうしたなかでの大臣の発言だ。
この真意は産める方は産んでくださいという趣旨だ。
この言い方はやはり諸外国でもダメなのだろうか。(15時44分)
