In November last year, a big earthquake hit Nepal.
Unfortunately, the damage was greatest where low-income people lived in the mountains.
Their houses collapsed, and with no other option, they built temporary homes in the fields they used to plow.
They became more impoverished because they lost the fields for farming.
The houses lost their water supply, so residents must fetch water, which takes one hour each way.
The Nepalese government doesn’t have enough money to support them, and the people living there were abandoned.

運悪く、山岳地帯の低所得者層が住む地域の被害が一番多かった。
家が崩れ、止む無く田畑に仮設住宅を建てた人たちも多かった。
耕す田畑が無くなり困窮に拍車をかけた。
水道が無くなった家では片道１時間をかけて水を汲まなくてはならなくなった。
ネパール政府は救護の余裕がなく、人々は国からも見放された。
テレビでこうした報道がなされていた。
