In Japan, there is a growing trend of people falling in love with characters.
There’s even a term for such individuals: “fictophile”.
I doubted its truth, but it appears to be accurate.
For them, the object of affection isn’t human.
Some companies have seized this as a business opportunity, issuing unofficial marriage certificates.
As an older person, I struggle to comprehend the fascination with fictional characters.
And I have no desire to understand.
Perhaps it’s because we live in a society that embraces diversity.
Would denying it brand us as narrow-minded?
Just as same-sex love has gained acceptance.

本当かなと思ったが、本当らしい。
彼らにとっては恋愛の対象は人間ではないのだ。
商機とばかりに、非公式の結婚証明書を発行する会社も現れた。
現実の恋愛に目もくれず、架空キャラクターに熱中する気持ちは、おじさんとしては全然わからない。
分かりたいとも思わない。
これも多様性を認める社会だからだろうか。
否定してしまうと、了見が狭い言われるのだろうか。
