This mascot doll you can see below is named “MyakuMyaku,” the official character of the Osaka Expo.
“MyakuMyaku” is a Japanese word that means something continuing over a long period of time.
So it represents the long-lasting connections of history, tradition, culture, and the world.
As you can see, it looks kind of creepy.
When I saw it for the first time, I thought, “What is this?
First of all, it has too many eyes.
You can’t tell where it’s looking.
But strangely enough, once you get used to it, it starts to look kind of cute.
I actually went to the Osaka Expo and bought it.
It was very expensive.

第一、目が多すぎる。
視点がどこに定まっているかがわからない。
しかし、不思議なことに見慣れてくると、かわいく思えてくる。
