Some time ago, when I watched baseball, I noticed that most of the foreign players had tattoos.
In Japan, tattoos are not as widely accepted as in other countries.
Recently, younger people are becoming more accepting, but middle-aged and older Japanese still tend to dislike tattoos.
One reason for this is that many people associate tattoos with the yakuza (gangsters).
In the past, tattoos were not seen as a fashion statement like they are today.
So they are still not easily accepted.
Some people also believe that it’s not good to harm the body that they received from their parents.
While some may perceive this as discrimination, I believe it’s part of the Japanese national character.
Regardless, it’s important to remember that tattoos are generally disliked by Japanese people.
さっき野球を見ていたら、外国人選手の殆どが入れ墨をしていた。
入れ墨と言えば、日本は諸外国と比べて入れ墨に対する拒否感が強い。
最近の若者はそうでもないらしいが、中年以上の日本人は殆どが入れ墨を嫌っている。
その理由のひとつは、日本では入れ墨を入れている者は殆どがヤクザだったからだ。
その昔は、今のようにファッションで入れるものは皆無だった。
だから、入れ墨を容易に受け入れないのだ。
親からもらった体に傷をつけることは良くないという考えもある。
差別と思うかもしれないが、国民性と思う。
いずれにしても、日本人は入れ墨を嫌うということを覚えておいた方が良い。(14時03分)
