Charging ahead of others in Japanese robot animation is “Ironman Number”
About 70 years ago, it was a cartoon written by author Mituteru Yokoyama.
Gundam and Mazinger Z were influenced by this cartoon.
It was broadcast on the American TV station WPIX under the name Gigantor.
Its appearance isn’t very good—its stomach sticks out—so it’s hard to say it looks cool.
I remembered watching it on TV in the old days.
Why did I remember it?
Because my wife’s belly has started to look the same.
Of course, I would never actually say that.
But the thought rises up to my throat.
日本のロボットアニメのさきがけは鉄人２８号という。
およそ70年ぐらい前に横山光輝という作者によって書かれた漫画である。
この漫画が後のガンダムやマジンガーＺに影響を与えた。
アメリカのテレビ局・WPIXからも「Gigantor（ジャイガンター）」という題名で放送されたこともある。
見た目は画像のとおりお腹も出ていておせじにも格好良いとは言えない。
僕も昔テレビで見ていたことを思い出してきた。
何で思い出したかというと妻の体形がそっくりになってきたからだ。
妻には絶対に言わないでおこう。
のどもとまで出ることはあるが。
