Nowadays, I am thinking about making a family chart.
The other day, I met my aunt, whom I hadn’t seen in a while, and learned that our ancestor was a famous samurai.
In Japan, we have a household registration system that allows us to trace back about 150 years.
So, I immediately requested the family register from the government office.
Because I need to trace back many generations, I have to apply to multiple government offices.
It’s a hassle, but I think there’s something romantic about learning about one’s ancestors.

先日、長らく会っていなかった叔母と会ったときに、先祖は有名な武将だと聞いたからだ。
日本には戸籍制度があり、大体１５０年ぐらい前までさかのぼることができる。
だから、早速役場に戸籍の請求をした。
何代も遡るため、たくさんの役所に請求しないとならない。
とっても面倒だが、先祖を知ることにロマンがあると思っている。(17時38分)
