子供時代の衝撃的な思い出

It was during my fifth-grade year in elementary school.
When I returned home from school, I saw that my mother had placed several 1000 yen bills on the table and was crying.
She kept repeating, “We have no money, no money,” in a state of partial hysteria.
It was a shock to me.
Despite my repeated inquiries about what was wrong, my mother insisted, “Nothing happened.”
But if nothing had happened, why was she counting money and crying?
If it was truly nothing, I wished she wouldn’t act in such a way, I thought to myself as a child.
Even though this happened over 50 years ago, I still remember it as if it were yesterday.
