In Japan, there was a custom known as “Ushimitsumairi” in the past.
It involved going to the shrine between 1 AM and 3 AM, nailing a straw doll resembling someone you harbored resentment towards to the sacred tree, and casting a curse.
Whether this was actually carried out or just a tale remains uncertain.
Currently, no one engages in this custom, or so I thought.
However, there was a man who indeed performed it.
During Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a man tied Putin’s photo to a straw doll and conducted the “Ushimitsumairi”.
As you are aware, the Russian invasion persisted, and the curse had no effect.
The man was arrested for unlawfully entering the shrine.
Clearly, curses is ineffective.
I secretly applauded this man.
日本では「丑三つ参り」というものが過去にあった。
午前1時から午前3時ごろに神社に行き、御神木に憎い相手に見立てた藁人形を釘で打ちつけて呪いをかけるというものだ。
本当に行われていたのか、ただの話なのかは分からない。
今では、行う者はいない。
そう思っていた。
しかし、それを実際に行った者がいた。
ある男が、ロシアがウクライナに侵攻したときに、プーチンの写真を藁人形に結び付けて、丑三つ参りを行ったのだ。
結果どうなったかというと、ご承知のとおり、ロシアの侵攻は続いている。
効果はなかった。
その男は、神社へ不法侵入したということで逮捕された。
やはり、呪いは効果はないのだ。
